The bags are packed etc.

The last view of our house before we loaded up the luggage

Amazing how one can find things to eat through in the freezer and the fridge without going to the grocery store and the rest we give away! Emma is tucked away at moms. The bills are ready to pay. Taxes are ready to be mailed. It has taken a lot of planning and sleeping will be difficult tonight! We will miss all our friends and the food and wine and stories we share. Last minute lists just don’t seem to get smaller but the van is suppose to arrive at 2 pm tomorrow to deliver us to the Ritz. Its hard learning how to use this website. But I’ll keep trying. Now to find a way to post photos! Guess I have about five days at sea to figure it out!

My site still will not show up but I keep posting. We have unpacked and of course realize what we have forgotten – how can two tweezers disappear and that I could have done with half a dozen less dresses. Well maybe not – we’ll see. I’m taking notes so if we do this again I will be more streamlined. Gorgeous day but foggy under the Golden Gate as we left. As the seas churn, I’m ready for my first night on the boat! Day One! I’d load a picture but wordpress is a bear to use and I might have to find another avenue to share our travels ….alas the wifi is slow!

Emma on the right with Shep at moms…no one to trim their hair!

Martini days at sea

MARINER at night

After sailing under the bridge last night the seas churned for most of the night. Being in the very front of the boat gives us a little more rocking but it also rocked the three of us to sleep! Today the sun came out around noon but it is now partly cloudy and very windy. Larkin and I took a walk inside as that was our only option! Note to Larkin to herself, remember NOT to accidentally drop ear buds down the open stairwells. It was found but quite the adventure and only ten flights of stairs to find it and get back to where we were.

The food of course is very good but having a scale in the bathroom keeps me thinking whether I truly want a few of the items. We look forward to trying all of the restaurants in this first five sea days and we know we can and will go back to each of them. Larkin and I can make our own tea in the room as we sit and write or read or work on school research. We feel blessed. Train your Dragon was on in the background as I write this. Fun!

The guest we’ve met are all amazing individuals. When walking down the hallways you note the magnetic name tags of all the travelers and where they’ve been on Regent cruises. For many this is their first Regents cruise. Larkin met a Colorado School of Mines Graduate before we even boarded the ship. He has granddaughters who are at Mines right now! Some days the world just seems a little too small. 299 people are going around the world with us and the other guests are rotating through after each segment.

When I am walking up and down the stairs I think of items to share for the non-world cruiser and then part times sets in and I can’t remember when I have a piece of paper in my hand. Wifi can be spotty but we are all keeping up our Duolingo languages – Larkin Norwegian, Michael Spanish and I am doing Italian!

Happy end of January! More to come!

The Traveling Martini’s

We thought we’d see this view again from our deck on June 4th 2020 but it didn’t happen!
  • We want to share with friends what it is like to be at sea for 131 days
  • Food – not so much as we have such great food at home
  • Wine – well champagne is my friend but our wine at home is to die for!
  • We’ll keep posting about unique and fun excursions
  • …and then life changed into a respite in the Margaret River the sea was out our window and we watched the waves crash against the sand
  • We only made 53 days and covid struck
  • We’ve loved our current travels and will keep blogging!
  • We lost Michael January 10, 2023 but I’ll keep posting as a traveling Martini!
